Sample: Prokaryotic and Eukaryotic Cells

CELL TYPES

There are two types of cells

  1. Prokaryotic
  2. Eukaryotic

PROKARYOTIC

  • Have no true nucleus, meaning they do not have a nuclear membrane surrounding their DNA.
  • They have no membrane bound organelles i.e. no mitochondria or chloroplasts.
  • They have ribosomes.
  • An example of prokaryotic cells are bacteria.

EUKARYOTIC

  • They have a true nucleus, meaning they HAVE a nuclear membrane around their DNA.
  • They have membrane bound organelles such as mitochondria and chloroplasts.
  • They have ribosomes.
  • Examples include cheek cells and onion cells.

Memory tip YOU are EUkaryotic.
